Stephen Ministry has been a quiet yet powerful healing force at The Church in Aurora for more than 17 years. Located in Aurora, Ohio, this church has trained 98 Stephen Ministers who have touched the lives of countless individuals.
One of these Stephen Ministers, Josephine Leamy, wanted to commemorate the quiet ministry with a stained glass window in the church's sanctuary alcove. The church, although built in 1870, had a modest decor, and Josephine thought the window would be a great way to enhance the building while providing a visual reminder of the church's caring ministry.
Associate Pastor Kevin Horack says Stephen Ministry has improved the quality of ministry at the church. Kevin also says the church is known as a caring congregation--much in part to Stephen Ministry.
"It's surprising how this program touches the lives of people in very subtle ways," he says. "I think it's one of the most effective programs we have here."
A plaque at the bottom of the window reads, "In Honor of Stephen Ministers and the Lives They Have Touched. Presented by Josephine Leamy."
