The One Answer to All Her Questions
Marla was a recently widowed mother of a two-year-old-son, TJ, when she came to Calvary Church. She was searching for answers to many questions, but what she found there was one answer to all her questions.
Pastor Mick recognized her needs right away. "Even though Marla wasn't a Christian, I knew she would really benefit from being surrounded by Christian friends," he said. "So I connected her with a ChristCare Group immediately."
Barbara was leading her first ChristCare Group, all women, when Marla joined. "The members of our group accepted her with open arms," said Barbara. "We listened as she shared the painful experience about losing her husband. As time went on, we openly discussed our faith with her. It was beautiful to watch Marla discover how much Jesus loves her."
Soon Marla was ready for the next step of faith. "I asked my ChristCare Group about baptism," Marla said. "They helped me decide that TJ and I needed to be baptized. They played such an important part of my faith journey, I asked all of them to be our sponsors."
"All baptisms are special, but this one was especially so," said Rev. Mick. "Her parents were present, as were her ChristCare friends. We experienced the koinonia that the apostle Luke described in Acts 2."
Marla and TJ have a new life in Jesus thanks to the Spirit's work in and through her ChristCare Group. "There's so much love there, I can't imagine anyone not benefiting from this kind of experience. We're so thankful for everything God has given us through Calvary Church and our ChristCare Group," Marla said.
