Those who thrive working at Stephen Ministries enjoy much about their work here, but the key reason that Stephen Ministries fits so well for them is that they like to work hard, have fun, and make a difference.
"I can see major growth in my skills and responsibilities. I have become more organized and am able to prioritize tasks better than before. I am noticing an improvement in getting more things done in a shorter period of time. I've grown in working with people--coworkers and customers. We all depend on each other for this ministry to be successful."
Juliette Alvey
"Training, writing, designing, editing, supervising, shipping, computing. There's a lot that goes into the development and distribution of the life-transforming resources that Stephen Ministries provides, and we all make it happen. We make it happen because we are driven to work hard and accomplish as much as possible each day. We make it happen because we manage our time carefully. And because we all share the same vision and drive--helping and motivating each other--we have a great deal of fun in the process."
David Bode
"It's neat to be able to work at a place that uses my gifts and abilities every day. My academic degree is in education, but I'm using my skills in organization and directing others to make our warehouse run smoothly and efficiently. We all work together, using our strengths and skills to make ministry happen. It's a diverse and vibrant environment that stimulates the mind and motivates the spirit."

Our Big Hairy Audacious Goal for about two years was to develop and deliver the first Breakthrough Leadership Conference. We accomplished that goal--we held the first BLC in St. Louis on October 8-13, 2006. Soon afterward we gathered in the Commons and celebrated God's grace and all our hard work that led to an extremely successful first conference.
Community Gatherings at the Stephen Ministries Center are celebrations, pure and simple. We get together to celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and anniversaries of employees being at Stephen Ministries. We also hear God's Word and pray together. These gatherings give us a chance to pause and celebrate community--the bond that holds our workplace together--as we support one another in good times and in bad. We get to know our coworkers better as real people, not just as friendly faces or as the function they fulfill. And of course there's always lots of good food, conversation, and laughter. Community Gatherings help us to celebrate the life of Christ in and through our colleagues.
"For more than 10 years, I have found that the most enjoyable aspect of what I do is working alongside the great people at Stephen Ministries. We share our lives together, we laugh together, we sometimes even cry together. Stephen Ministries is a fun-loving team--but more than that, we're a community of people who enjoy carrying out our purpose and mission together."
Joel Keen
"One reason I love working at Stephen Ministries is that it's so much fun here. We enjoy events such as our monthly Community Gatherings and our annual picnic--with its intense four-square tournament!--but we also have fun in our daily work and interactions here at the office. What makes this possible is that everyone here gets along. We all care about one another and honestly enjoy one another's company. It makes a huge difference to work with people who treat one another with kindness and respect."
Becky Bogar
"My favorite part of the workday is having lunch with my coworkers. We enjoy getting to know one another, telling stories, and laughing together."
Kelly Asbury
"It's really important to me that I do meaningful work, something that makes me excited to get up in the morning. Stephen Ministries gives me just that--our mission here reaches so many. It really pushes me to be a good steward of the gifts and abilities God has given me to help build his church. If I can do my part to help pastors and lay leaders offer care to hurting people, then it's well worth it."
Janine Ushe
"I'm so happy to be able to work at a place that has a powerful Christian mission--a mission that's higher than we are. I love knowing that what I'm doing here is touching people's lives, whether directly or indirectly, and that makes all our work at Stephen Ministries worthwhile."
Mary Poletti
"Working for such a caring, Christ-centered ministry has been an incredible experience for me. Everyone here is deeply passionate about our ministries, and through our efforts as a team, we're able to make a real impact in the church and the secular world. Our work here benefits countless people--I feel privileged to be a part of it!"

Our foyer mural by calligraphy artist Timothy R. Botts defines our mission: "To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ." Ephesians 4:12-13
