Sometimes people ask, "What positions do you have available?" At Stephen Ministries, we hire people, not positions.

We hire certain kinds of people. First, they have to be nice. The people we hire are also intelligent--most of our staff graduated near the top of their class. Not least of all, we hire those who are motivated. What makes our employees want to get up and come to work is that they know that each day they have the opportunity to accomplish something meaningful.

What do you want to do with your life? What is God calling you to do? During the hiring process we look with you at your gifts, experience, and passion to craft the ideal position based on your strengths as well as our organization's needs. Roles and responsibilities at Stephen Ministries change as our organization's needs change and as your skills grow and your interests change. Through hard work, accomplishment, and commitment, people in administrative roles move into positions of greater responsibility and supervision of others.

Cindy Bogar earned a degree in interior design, but she was unable to find a job in that field after she graduated, and she really didn't like the job gluing plastic flowers to Astroturf doormats eight hours a day. She applied to work at Stephen Ministries upon the recommendation of her sister Becky, who was already an employee. Cindy excelled in customer service and now holds a position of great responsibility as the Customer Service Team Leader. By the way, Cindy is using her interior design skills as part of our graphic design team and by designing our traveling bookstore.

What does math have in common with a trombone? Both are areas of study for David Bode: David's undergraduate degree is in mathematics, and he earned his master's degree in trombone performance. So where do David's gifts fit at Stephen Ministries? Would you guess Human Resources? Traveling to cities all over the U.S. to help run week-long training courses? Information Technology? In fact, all three guesses would be correct. David has taken on many roles, and his most recent is Information Services Team Leader.

When Mary Poletti earned her degree in English from Westminster College, she pursued a Writing-Plus! internship at Stephen Ministries, seeing it as the perfect way to hone her writing skills for a future career in journalism. What she found instead was the perfect way to combine her love of communicating with a passion for serving Christ and his Church, so she returned after graduation as a permanent staff member! Today, Mary serves on the communications team at Stephen Ministries, playing a key role in all aspects of organizational communications, including marketing, publicity mailings, market research, job fairs, and administration.
